Manhattan Last & Shine Nail Polish | Give It Some Welly – Review

1

Glamour and glory to those who have beautiful nails.

When you meet someone for the first time and they shake your hand or hold out some documents I am sure most of you subconsciously look at how well kept their hands are. Do you notice?

This is the second product I have tried from the Manhattan Last & Shine product line. As you might know, I did a review on the Love Peach swatch last time and if you have not looked at it yet feel free to check it out later.

My review of the Love Peach swatch did not end as well as I would have liked it to end, BUT I decided to show you what exactly I meant when I wrote “The reason for reviewing one product at a time is the fact, that even if the products may be from the same line, the formula and its effects are different for every colour of shade there is. “

That is also why I wanted to write about nail polish again so soon, because I felt like had a point to prove to the lovely people – I mean you – who take the time to read my reviews: Do not disregard a whole product line prematurely simply because you had one bad experience with a certain product.
You could miss out on a wonderful beauty discovery!

The product:

Manhattan Last & Shine Nail Polish – Give It Some Welly

Look at that gorgeous colour. I never thought you could use a single nail polish on lots of  different styles and still make it look like it was made for that one particular occasion. I have worn this polish on and off for about a month now and combined it with cute, professional, dandy, classy, elegant, grunge and even “I just want to go home and never come out of my bed again” styles and looks. And every single time the polish fit the outfit and makeup.

I am sorry for the awful editing. My photoshop broke down permanently and my charger decided to die today. I will redo them once I get everything fixed.

Ingredients:

Again I am sorry to say that I cannot provide extra information on the ingredients. But I still decided to list them here, because to those of you who know this stuff or have an interest in ingredients, I want my post to be as useful as possible.

I linked the full ingredient list from dm Germany because I – still – could not find anything on the Manhattan Website.

How to use it:

The neatest way to apply nail polish is using only three strokes. With really small brushes, this can be difficult but the Manhattan Last & Shine wand is broad, so the task should be manageable.

What it claims to do:

  • Intense colour and brilliant high shine
  • Longlasting – up to 10 days
  • Quick drying
  • Ultra shiny and smooth finish
  • Even application in 1 stroke with Fast & Easy brush
  • Withstands daily chores

What it really does:

Give It Some Welly is the highest coverage polish I own at the moment. This product went from me expecting a huge disappointment to my holy grail nail polish.

Only with one layer you have full coverage and an even spread of colour. Just like the Love Peach swatch the colour itself is stunning. I do not know whether I should call this swatch warm or cold because it seems to go so well with both tones.

The brush is thick and convenient for applying colour without using too many strokes but I can see some people disliking it because of the broad wand.

Guys, let me tell you,  the colour is totally gorgeous. This swatch fits absolutely everything, so this is my recommendation for a busy week with lots of different occasions.

What is your favourite colour? Not just for Nail Polish but in general? It is always delightful to learn more about you, so be sure to spare a second to tell me your preference down in the comments.

The grey colour is definitely not as cute or girly as other swatches might be, there is no denying that, but it is really flexible and something one can wear all the time without having to be scared of your nails clashing with your clothes.

Summarised:

The cons:

Con 1: Because of the thickness of the brush it is incredibly difficult to do more intricate work or add details.

If you want something small, my recommendation is using a smaller extra brush to achieve that. Just be sure to clean it afterwards or you ruined the whole brush with one use.

Con 2: This whole quick drying claim is kind of relative. It looks and feels like the colour dried but keep away from this polish before going to bed. The surface dries really quick and you can get back to business in no time. But when your nails are under pressure for some time they get the pattern of whatever is pressing onto them.

Again, if you want quick drying results I would tell you to choose the Maybelline Superstay Seven Day Nail Polish.

The pros:

Pro 1: Because there is no need to apply so many layers of polish, this one has the ability to look more casual instead of only the high end glamour the Love Peach swatch provides. You can change it up in whatever way you want it to.

Pro 2: The Manhattan Last and Shine line is stunning. The product name really hits the nail with this one. The way your nails shine after applying is nothing short of glamorous.

Pro 3: The brush is good. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to brushes, but regardless of your likes the quality is good.

Pro 4: I used to say he price-quality-ratio is acceptable. But because Give It Some Welly met and exceeded my expectations. For 3$ the polish is definitely worth a try.

Manhattan is one of the higher quality brands that are still really affordable and I haven’t had any bad experience with any of their nail products as of yet.

Pro 5: The claim of this polish to be long lasting is still true. The Love Peach swatch stayed for a long time and the Give It Some Welly one did as well. At the tips of the nails it does fade a bit but not as much as to bother anyone.

Conclusion:

Holy Grail alert! I am definitely never going to let go of this polish again. Not only is the colour stunning, it is convenient too. And it has high coverage!
I have said it lots of times but what really made the deal for me was the fact that I do not have to redo my nails all the time and they still fit my style no matter what.

5 <3

My first nail polish five out of five! And an earned one too. I told you that there are better swatches in the Last and Shine product line and here you have the proof. This one is Alchemiin approved and something you should consider buying for Christmas. Maybe not only for yourself but as a present? Or both?

My Alchemiin Tip:

When you buy new nail polish, I highly recommend you to check if there is a small metal ball inside the bottle. If the polish is transparent you can easily see the metal, but  should the liquid not be see through, just give it a little shake and you can hear something clinking against the polish bottle.

The metal balls purpose is to help preventing the liquid from getting thick. Whenever you have the feeling your nail polish is getting drier give it a roll and you should be good to go again.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks’ review and I would love to read your thoughts down in the comments. Love, Eden ❤
