Aritaum Styling Eye Palette | Fatal Burgundy – Review

Aritaum Styling Eye Palette - Fatal Burgundy Kbeauty Review

The reputation of k-beauty eyeshadow palettes is not the best. And still, on pictures and peoples make up the colours always look so stunning that we are compelled to buy them. There has to be some truth in those images right? We will see.

My eyeshadow collection is constantly growing and I have written a review on the Missha Modern Shadow | Morning Coffee  – feel free to check it out – and I was not really convinced in the quality of the product. I have built a report with it and use it from time to time, but my hopes for this palette are high.
Also, I have taken my time with this palette in order to give you a thorough review. I have used it for about five months now and think I have figured out all – or at least most – of the kinks.

Do you have a favourite eyeshadow palette? K-beauty or otherwise I would love to hear your recommendation. Also, have you heard negative k-beauty eyeshadow palette reviews before or is it only me?

The product:

The design of the palette is stunning. The palette itself comes wrapped in a thin cardboard wrapping with the same design as the actual eyeshadow except for a small picture of the colours included in the palette and the name – in Korean.
As usual, the whole package design of Aritaum is a combination of elegant and colourful and the faceted polygon style on the cover is eerily fitting of an eyeshadow palette.
Am I the only person seeing this, or are the most promo eyeshadow pictures shots of broken pigments… Which should be a beauty lovers worst nightmare but is still is so satisfying to look at – Is it only me?

Inside are five colours in the shades Peony, Epic, Mission, Bonheur(?보네르) and Cameo from left to right. There is also a double sided sponge applicator and a mirror all over the lid.

As with many other products, this is also one that apparently does not have an ingredient list anywhere on the internet. Or at least not where I can find it… And as I do not have the original wrapping left, I cannot really look it up anymore.
Should I have overlooked it anywhere or you have a picture of the list because you own the Styling Eye Palette do give me a shout. I would be glad to add the ingredient list at a later date.

How to use it:

  • Adjust the moderate amount of colours to create the look you want. Use dark, deep colours to define lash lines.

As every beauty enthusiast – or maybe even everyone – knows that the small make up applicator is not something you should usually use to apply your eyeshadow, but this time I really have to compliment the quality of that not-so-small sponge wand.

My recommendation is using your regular eyeshadow brush for the colours you use for the primary make up and then dip the thin side of the wand into the colours you would like to use for highlighting. It really works great and looks beautiful. I never use the thicker sponge, but the smaller one is definitely one of the applicators I use on a regular basis.

 What it claims to do:

  • Quick & Easy Complete eyes: essential five color, shading expression
  • High quality & color construction : high adhesion pressed formulation
  • Luxurious color (beige, burgundy, coral, shades of gray)
  • Easy to use: mirrors, dual tip brush was built

Call me the grammar police but I tend to get really peeved whenever I see grammatical or spelling mistakes. (I know I make mistakes too, and I am sure someone will get the heebie-jeebies when they read my text but still…)

What it really does:

The first claim certainly is true. The colours are really easy to apply and you can use the colours by itself – as you can see in my picture – without having a definite need for another eyeshadow, or necessarily eyeliner.

The formula of the shadows is also surprisingly good and will stick to your skin and eyelids for a long duration. Because of the general creaminess and shimmer of the shadows, the whole shadows will look smudged, so even if you do smudge it, it will natural.

I will mention it in the pro section in detail, but the size of the eyeshadow palette, with its mirror and “tip-brush”, are incredible. The size and shape of the palette and mirror make it incredibly easy to handle.

The cons:

Con 1: The Styling Eye Palette has only one real point that I would rate as a con. The pigmentation of the colours is really lacking and even if you use an incredible amount of product, you will never get over a certain amount of visibility. So the colours will always look a bit understated and natural – which also means that you cannot really make statement eye makeup without the help of eyeliner or other miracle workers.

Con 2: The second thing – which is not really a con per se, but still something I would like you to know, concerns the ease of use.
If I am honest with you, my review would have turned out a lot worse if I had decided to write this right after I bought the Styling Eye Palette. Some products are really easy to get the hang of, others are not. This product is one that seems easy right from the beginning but needs some time to really get the hang of. So spend some time with it and get to know your make up.

The pros:

Pro 1: All of the colours in this palette go well with each other. With the Styling Eye Palette alone you can create really beautiful looks, so this is not only one of the most wholesome palettes I own, but also something to take along during your travels.

Pro 2: The mirror… This mirror is one of the best and clearest mirrors I have ever seen in a make up product. The size is just right to fit both of my eyes and so crystal clear that I sometimes even use it at home, if I want to go into detail, even though my bathroom mirror is right in front of me.

Pro 3: My favourite colour is the champagne coloured one called Epic – and the name really suits it. I either use it as a creamy base or as an underage highlighter. Sometimes I use it to highlight my cheekbones or put it onto the tip of my nose. All in all – this is a colour I would never want to miss ever again.

Pro 4: All of the shadows are have a lovely, somewhat creamy texture. It is perfect for a base and a very high buildability. I will not call them high quality – as I am no makeup artist and still think I lack a lot of experience, but personally, I love the quality of the Fatal Burgundy palette.

If it weren’t for the lack of pigmentation, I would be happy to label the whole eyeshadow palette – with all of its aspects – as one of the few items that were able to gain a rare position on my holy-grail pedestal.

But – yes here comes the famous but that you might know from my blog – alas, the pigmentation is lacking and this makes the darker shades completely useless should you wish to create a makeup with strongly defined eyes. Unless of course, you combine it with other products. Anyways – I give the Aritaum Styling Eye Palette a really strong 4.5 out of five and my blessing.

Alchemiin k-beauty reviews

Would I recommend it? Definitely! Even though the pigmentation is lacking in some points, this is one of the best eyeshadow palettes I own. Not for the sassy evening looks that take at least an hour, but for the more realistic, everyday make up, that needs to withstand the trials we face during the day and still look pretty in the end.

My Alchemiin Tip:

This time I do not really have a technique tip but more of an everyday life tip.

Many of us use make up on a daily basis, and even more of us have very long days of work, school or socialising and not the time – or the motivation –  to touch up on our eyeshadow every few hours or so. But still, we do not wish to look like we went through hell and back at the end of said dais.
So, for everyday use, I highly recommend using the Aritaum Styling Eye Palette. The eyeshadow does tend to fade a bit over time, but because of the subtlety of the shadows, the whole make up will remain representable for an incredibly long duration.

It is so hot right here in Austria… And the heat is never-ending. As I have a problem with heat, the last few days have really taken a toll on my body. I hope it gets better once the temperature starts to cool down a bit.

Enjoy the summer – or winter 😉 – and lots of love, Eden.
